The All Ways Up Multi-Site College Access and Success Program goals are to increase 1) the number of low-income youth of color who go to and graduate from college and 2) the number of graduates who are financially literate and have the skills required to pursue meaningful employment and/or a career and expects to benefit over 1,100 additional low-income youth by the end of the three-year project. The eleven VISTA members will serve at seven different sites and their work will focus on activities that include resource development, program expansion, communications, volunteer generation and program development. The Social Justice Learning Institute (SJLI) will host two VISTA members. SJLI works to build capacity for individuals and communities to advocate for their needs while training and building leaders. We educate and empower youth and community members to identify and rectify injustice. We work with youth, residents, local schools, school districts and city officials to increase educational opportunities through innovative programs and sustainable practices. SJLI’s project will build its capacity with two VISTA members who will focus on resource development and communications.

Member Duties: The Resource Development VISTA will support SJLI’s efforts to raise funds to ensure that economically vulnerable youth have access to scholarships, college tours and career training opportunities. The VISTA will 1) expand and diversify SJLI’s funding stream; 2) help identify fundraising strategies to meet target goals; 3) support individual donor cultivation; 4) conduct grant research, writing and reporting; 5) maintain and streamline a secure donor database; 6) assist with external relations, including coordinating partnerships and volunteers; 7) identify sources of in-kind donations of goods and services; 8) assist with the planning of fundraising events; and 10) support the Resource Development team with ongoing fundraising and development efforts.
