KOUNKUEY DESIGN INITIATIVE is currently seeking a landscape design associate to add to our growing team of about 15 staff in Los Angeles, CA. This is a fantastic opportunity for a highly motivated and creative self-starter to work directly with under-resourced communities throughout Southern California on public park projects. The candidate will work in a highly collaborative interdisciplinary studio environment including landscape architects, urban planners, fabricators, artists, community organizers, and program development specialists. The candidate should excel in design thinking and drawing, with an emphasis on 3-D modeling and representation skills.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Site renderings/illustrations in Illustrator and Photoshop and montage
  • Rhino modeling and VRay
  • Physical modeling
  • Hand drawing / sketching
  • Material / code research
  • Site Analysis
  • Assist with CAD drawings for schematic through construction documentation
  • Assist with community workshop design and facilitation
  • Record meeting minutes and photograph community meetings
  • Frequent travel to local job sites in Southern California by car
  • Support project managers (Design Coordinator)
     

Qualifications:

  • MLA or BLArch
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • Proficient hand drawing
  • Excellent skills in Adobe CS, Rhino and VRay.
  • Excellent communication and public speaking skills
  • Experience with Southern California plant palette, a plus
  • Bilingual (Spanish-English), a plus.
