Imagine LA is a dynamic and growing non-profit organization dedicated to mobilizing the community to end the cycle of family homelessness and
poverty. Our mission is to end the cycle of family homelessness by mobilizing trained mentors, collaborative public and private resources, and community leaders, who understand that a roof over one’s head is merely the starting point to a better life. Our innovative Family Empowerment & Mentorship Model works with highly vulnerable families exiting homelessness and emancipating parenting foster youth. Imagine LA helps them build skills, habits, and relationships that break the cycle of poverty and neglect, so a family can thrive long term.
The Family Empowerment & Mentorship (FEM) model begins after a family has been placed in long term permanent housing. Each family, is matched with a Family Team Manager (FTM) who is a masters level social worker and a team of trained volunteer mentors from the community for 12 to 18-months. Together the FTM and the mentor team provide stability, relationships, and resources to build life skills, financial wellness skills, employment, career, academic, health and childhood development prowess. Together professional case management, resources and consistent mentorship / friendship / encouragement for every member of the family over the age of 5 empowers the family to maintain housing, increase stability, and ultimately thrive.
Imagine LA is a smart, collaborative, and passionate environment that combines the best practices of business and social services. We value empowerment, relationships, collaboration, innovation, diversity, efficiency, and communication.
Imagine LA is growing. In our first 10 years we have worked with over 100 families with incredible results. We now seek to work with hundreds of families which means recruiting hundreds of volunteer mentors. To do so, we are hiring a Community Engagement Manager to help create and execute a dynamic strategic community engagement plan as well as assisting in related communications efforts.
The Community Engagement Manager (CEM) reports to the Associate Executive Director and works directly with the President/CEO. The CEM is the primary executor of the Imagine LA outreach efforts to recruit and engage volunteer mentors.
