SIERRA MADRE PLAYHOUSE MISSION: The Sierra Madre Playhouse is a nonprofit, award-winning 99-seat theater dedicated to illuminating the American experience through high-quality productions by acclaimed and emerging playwrights. With century-old ties to our community, we are committed to engaging diverse local and regional audiences and inspiring the next generation of artists and theater lovers.

POSITION SUMMARY: The Company Manager (a new position) will oversee and facilitate the smooth and efficient daily activities of our 99-seat non-profit theater in a fiscally responsible manner, at a time of organizational growth. This position reports directly to the Managing Director but will also interact with Board of Directors, Artistic Director and other staff, volunteers and guest artists. The Company Manager will work out of an office at the Playhouse and be available to receive deliveries and take direct calls. The Company Manager's responsibilities include coordination among the various non-profit theatre functions (artistic, educational, financial and facilities) and communication with stakeholders (staff, guest artists, independent contractors, board members, patrons and volunteers).

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Understanding of the various elements of the theatre process – production, technical and performance.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge and usage of correct English grammar, spelling and punctuation.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills – detail orientated.
  • Ability to problem-solve and facilitate solutions to issues.
  • Ability to work productively under time pressures and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and exercise excellent decision making skills.
  • High level of computer proficiency with knowledge of word processing,spreadsheets, databases, and graphics programs.
  • Bachelor’s degree required with 1 – 3 years of experience in a similar position preferred.
  • Valid California driver’s license and available vehicle.
  • Ability to lift 25 pounds or 50 pounds with assistance.

 

COMPENSATION
Compensation will be based on a full-time position on a one year renewable contract and
commensurate with the non-profit compensation standards for the size of our organization and the
experience of the applicant. Sick leave and vacation benefits included.
