Under the supervision of our Communications Director, you will perform and support day-to-day graphic design, media production, PR, and administrative tasks at Armory Center for the Arts — a nonprofit, contemporary arts center in Old Town Pasadena. Founded in 1989, The Armory presents cutting-edge exhibitions and delivers vibrant education programs to children, teens, adults, and families.

Ideal candidate is a relatively-recent design or communications/marketing graduate with 1-2 years relevant experience. Candidate must:

  • be proficient and efficient in Mac OS, G Suite (Google Apps), and Adobe products (Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, Acrobat, Dreamweaver)
  • have strong design skills and marketing instincts
  • have good photography skills and can shoot/edit short videos
  • perform moderate HTML coding, be familiar with bulk email tools (MailChimp), and website content management systems (we currently use SilverStripe)
  • have experience producing/managing compelling social media content for businesses (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)

In addition to graphic design and media production expertise, candidates who can also demonstrate superlative writing ability within a sales and marketing context are highly desirable (direct mailers, social posts, ad copy, website, press releases, bulk emails). Interpreting data from analytic tools also helpful (Google, Facebook, etc.).


Candidate should have a healthy sense of humor, a positive/pragmatic "can-do" attitude, and the ability to simultaneously juggle multiple tasks in a high-energy environment. Prior experience with art nonprofits a plus, as are licensed drivers who can operate a manual transmission (aka: our company truck). Prior experience with media relations and working with commercial printers are also a plus.
