Formed in 1924, the Central City Association (CCA) is the leading advocacy organization in the region. We are one of the most effective conveners for the community, with a focus on Downtown, helping to bridge the private sector with the public sector. CCA is a membership organization comprised of over 400 organizations, including non-profits, representing a diverse cross section of the economy. Our mission is to advance policies and initiatives that support Downtown's vibrancy and investment in the region.  We provide first rate service to our membership, which includes: policy advocacy, access to city and county thought-leaders, networking at CCA events, support at public hearings, as well as branding and marketing opportunities.  With new leadership in place, CCA is undergoing a restructure of our core identity and the new events team member will have an opportunity to contribute to CCA’s influence in the region. 

Position Summary

CCA is looking for an Events Manager to join our office in the heart of Downtown. The at-will position offers an excellent opportunity to be a part of Downtown’s transformation into the region’s center for growth. 

The candidate will play a vital role producing a variety of events to engage the diverse membership of CCA and help create experiences that reinforce the brand and value proposition of CCA.  

The ideal candidate is a self-starter, team player, detail-oriented, creative, proactive, and possesses strong communications skills. The candidate must have experience managing detailed event budgets, and must have a broad network of contacts in the event production field.  The ability to multi-task, manage projects, operate strategically and efficiently, and work with and manage diverse stakeholders is a must.  The candidate should also have an interest in the policy issues that CCA advocates for and a broad interest in the Downtown region. The candidate must also understand DTLA’s network. Ability to stay calm under pressure is required.  

The Events Manager will report to the Director of Business Development and Marketing.  


The role of the Events Manager is to develop and execute a broad range of member experiences that align with CCA’s mission.  Duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Annual Treasures of Los Angeles Gala: Treasures is CCA’s signature event and raises more than one third of the revenue for the organization. Treasures is attended by 1,200 business leaders and elected officials. 
    • Manage all duties needed to execute a first-class experience.
    • Source, supervise and negotiate contracts with vendors and venues.
    • Collaborate with team to create the design for the event.  
    • Oversee and manage production from on-site through load-out. 
    • Lead graphic design and distribute event materials to stakeholders.
    • Organize Honoree Nomination Committee meetings.
    • Organize and maintain historical files of past honorees, potential nominees, and sponsorship data. 
    • Liaise with honorees and their team for their tribute video production. 
    • Lead production of tribute journal and event signage. 
    • Supervise and direct technical production.
    • Supervise and produce honoree tribute videos.
    • Manage post-event follow up. 
  • General Membership Meetings (4-6 events per year), Annual Holiday Party, Biennial Chiefs of Staff and Elected Officials Reception, and Member Soirees and other special events (3-4 per year).
    • Manage all duties needed to execute a first-class experience for our members and prospective members. 
    • Source, supervise and negotiate contracts with vendors and venues. 
    • Lead production of the graphic elements for each event and distribute to stakeholders as necessary.
    • Work with team to develop the event program and/or theme and coordinate speaker availability as needed.


The Events Manager is a full-time, salary position.  Must be willing to work evenings or be available as needed.


Will be based on skills and experience.


  • Bachelor’s Degree. 
  • A minimum of 8 years’ experience in events. 
  • Able to show successful execution of past events (online or through printed materials). 
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communications skills.  
  • Demonstrated experience in preparing and managing detailed event budgets.   
  • Be  able  to  think  creatively  about  a  variety  of  challenges  and  apply  their  organizational  and  managerial  skills  accordingly.   
  • Possess a  broad  network  of  contacts  in  the  field  of  event  production  to  help  attract  and  
  • keep  business.    
  • High-energy and detail-oriented. 
  • Passionate about events and experiences!
