Summary:

Bicycle Transit Systems (Bike Transit) aims to be the global leader in bike share system implementation and operation. Leveraging over 25 years combined experience of our staff in sustainable transportation, Bike Transit brings a new approach to the planning, implementation and operation of bike share systems.

In partnership with Los Angeles Metro, Bike Transit has launched the Downtown Los Angeles Pilot Bike Share Program, Metro Bike, with approximately 61 stations and 700 bicycles. In 2017 we will be expanding to over 1,300 bicycles in Pasadena, Venice and The Port of LA. Future Rapid expansion up to 4,000 bikes bicycles is anticipated in the following years. Our mission is to make bike share a healthy, easy, accessible and enjoyable way to get around Los Angeles.

We are building a street/marketing team for Metro Bike Share events. This is an opportunity to help build the Metro Bike Share brand, spread the word in the community, be an advocate for bike riding, and get paid while doing it. Hours will vary and you can choose which events you are available to participate in. Metro Bike Share Street Team Members are outgoing and highly personable, knowledgeable, customer service-oriented individuals who live and breathe the Metro Bike Share brand.

They will speak to and help community members, tourists, individuals, and groups understand how to use Metro Bike Share out in the field. Street Team Members will assist the Marketing team to sell passes and educate community members about Metro Bike Share. Applicants must be team-players available to work weekdays and/or weekends, and must have experience working with the general public. Spanish speakers are strongly encouraged to apply.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Work under the guidance of the Marketing Manager
  • Attend and host events throughout the city, where you may perform any of the following:
  • Promote Metro Bike Share and educate people about how Metro Bike Share works
  • Sell Metro Bike Share passes and renewals
  • Events may require you to ride a Metro Bike Share bicycle
  • Work at select Metro Bike Share stations to help riders purchase passes, and to educate them about how to best use their pass
  • Demonstrate bike features, removal and return procedures for bikes, kiosk signup and pricing
  • Closely observe stations and report any graffiti, litter or maintenance issues to our Operations Team
  • Other duties as assigned
     

Requirements:

  • Outgoing and highly personable
  • Good customer service skills and communication skills.
  • Comfort with explaining/selling Metro Bike Share passes to diverse audiences in large settings.
  • Evening and weekend availability.
  • Ability to write detailed notes describing the event and giving feedback from customers/potential customers.
  • Ability to administer surveys and collect contact information.
  • Stand and walk for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to bend and stoop to grasp objects. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Excitement and interest in bike sharing.
     

Compensation range:

$15/hour (hours will vary)

Type of Position:

Part Time – Up to 20 hours per week
