Our movie and TV ratings are available on Netflix, Comcast, DirecTV, and many other partner networks, helping families and kids make smart media choices. Through our schools program, we provide educators with a curriculum that teaches the essential digital-citizenship and literacy skills every student needs to succeed. More than 100,000 member schools across the country use our ratings and free curricula and content. We also work with policymakers, industry leaders, legislators, and a grassroots community of concerned parents and teachers to improve the media and education landscape for kids, families, and schools.

We are seeking a talented, bilingual professional in the Los Angeles area with a passion for education to be our part-time Latino Outreach Coordinator, who will report to the Director of Latino Content and Outreach and work closely with the Latino and Education teams, to provide workshops for parents about media and technology, support our partnerships with key players in the Early Childhood field and expand local partnerships in Los Angeles area.  This is a part-time (24 hours per week), exempt-level, role that will report to the Director, Latino Content & Outreach.

Outreach & Partnership Cultivation

Build partnerships with community-based organizations and school districts in Los Angeles County to introduce our Spanish-language Common Sense resources with Latino parents and families

  • Assist with the development and coordination of outreach and partnerships strategies to engage with schools and organizations that primarily serve the Latino community in Los Angeles
  • Serve as an ambassador of the mission of Common Sense Latino in the interaction with current and potential partners and the media.
  • Research and assist in developing plans for expanding the Common Sense Latino outreach presence

Community Engagement

Engage with parents and educators in the region in order to build strategic relationships through a variety of outreach activities

  • Facilitate in-person professional development for LA County educators on:
  • The opportunities and challenges of technology on young people
  • How to foster a strong home-school connection and engage/educate parents about technology and their kids through the use of Common Sense resources
  • Facilitate in-person parent workshops in partnership with community partners
  • Attend relevant community meetings; participate in relevant councils and committees


  • Evaluate programming through both quantitative and qualitative assessments
  • Participate in weekly staff meetings with the Common Sense Los Angeles Regional Office staff


  • Bachelor’s degree.Education or Early Childhood preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of professional work experience, preferably working with parents or in the education field  
  • Fully bilingual and bicultural, Spanish-English
  • Significant experience presenting workshops, parent talks, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and presentation skills
  • Excellent organizational and public speaking skills
