About LA2050

LA2050 is a community-guided initiative driving and tracking progress toward a shared vision for the future of Los Angeles. Our mission is to engage and activate Angelenos to shape the future of the region and make LA the best place to learn, create, play, connect, and live by the year 2050.

We do this through:

  • Researching and reporting on LA’s trajectory and the solutions to place LA on a successful path forward

  • Highlighting the stories and work of Awesome Angelenos and civic organizations shaping the future of our region for the better

  • Setting an optimistic and ambitious roadmap for the region

  • Designing campaigns, hosting events and trainings, and driving digital communications to educate and empower Angelenos to take action on important issues impacting their future

  • Activating and mobilizing Angelenos to achieve a vision of Los Angeles that ensures prosperity for all residents

To help achieve our mission, LA2050 is seeking to add a pro in policy, research, and partnerships to our team: someone driven, dynamic, and creative who is passionate about all things Los Angeles. We’re looking for someone who can be a wonk but make important policy issues digestible for targeted and diverse communities.

Roles and Responsibilities

Specifically, our policy rockstar will be responsible for:

  • Leading the development of an agenda that identifies solutions to drive progress towards a shared vision for the future of Los Angeles. Specifically, this person will be responsible for translating the LA2050 goals and metrics into actionable steps, policies, and solutions that Angelenos can participate in to achieve the Vision for a Succesful Los Angeles

  • Conducting research, providing analysis, and building issue expertise on topics relevant to the LA2050 goals and metrics

  • Working collaboratively with the LA2050 team to create connections for Angelenos to organizations, leaders, and opportunities advancing issues related to the LA2050 goals and metrics

  • Navigating the LA advocacy landscape to align LA2050 with existing and potential efforts that will move the needle on the goals and metrics, to foster collaboration with partners on initiatives, and to mobilize the LA2050 community to support efforts that will shape a positive future for Los Angeles 

  • Developing high-quality materials to inform Angelenos about local issues and opportunities to be involved, including web content, blogs, one-pagers, briefing papers, and infographics

  • Being an active and impactful participant in coalitions and working groups aligned with the LA2050 goals, metrics, and actionable agenda

  • Managing relationships with elected officials and decision-makers when needed

  • Building, strengthening, and growing strategic partnerships with organizations across the LA region with an eye towards collaboration and aggregating clout to make an impact


How to know if you’re a great fit

  • Minimum 5-7 years relevant work experience in policy analysis, development, advocacy, politics, campaigns, issue advocacy, social change. Advanced degree a plus

  • Experience designing advocacy, issue, or impact campaigns that include digital mobilization, email campaigns, online community and grassroots outreach

  • Experience working in the above mentioned areas in Los Angeles

  • Experience with coalition building and a stong belief in the power of collaboration, both internally within a team and with external partners, to create change

  • Strong policy analysis background

  • Familiarity with digital platforms and social media tools for civic activation and participation a plus

  • You were a source of information to friends and family on local ballot initiatives in November 2016
