TreePeople’s On-site Tour Department delivers environmental and sustainability education to over 10,000 people a year at Coldwater Canyon Park - home of TreePeople to students, teachers and parents. We also provide moonlight hikes to the public. The goal of the program is to inspire them to take personal responsibility by creating a more climate resilient city through the planting and care of trees, conserving, capturing and infiltrating water, creating healthy productive soil, and more.

Responsible For: Delivering environmental educational tours to K – 12 students, family groups, and the general public, and serving as an educational specialist responding to inquiries on

TreePeople’s information line.

Duties Include:

  • Delivering weekday Eco-tours, our interactive educational tour for elementary through high school students.
  • Delivering monthly Moonlight Hikes, for the public
  • Presenting TreePeople’s “Dirt Doctor” at select outreach events.
  • Delivering other educational programs as needed.
  • Performing some administrative duties including data entry and answering TreePeople’s information line.
  • Maintaining all equipment, displays and props.
  • Helping prepare for events in the Conference Center and on the grounds.
  • Participating in educator and staff gatherings.
  • Necessary Skills/Requirements: Must be committed to environmental sustainability. The ideal candidate possesses a sound grasp of ecology and environmental issues; a basic understanding of effective educational methods; and cross-cultural sensitivity.
  • Must have experience working with youth, teens and adults
  • Have flexibility and patience
  • Experience and/or education in interpretive/environmental education, and/or performing arts
  • Strong communication skills and comfortable speaking to a group or to individuals
  • Spanish speaking a plus
  • Comfortable and able to work outdoors
  • Organized and detail oriented
  • Experience with administrative work

Reports to: Senior Manager, On-site Tours

Compensation: Part time (25 hours per week) non-exempt hourly, with some benefits.

Seasonal position (September through July)
