Location & Travel Details:

The Business Development Manager (BDM) role will require working from multiple Chrysalis offices. The primary locations will be Chrysalis’ Inland Empire/San Bernardino and Orange County offices and the surrounding communities. The BDM will also conduct outreach at other Chrysalis locations, as needed. Regular travel to meetings and events at community/employment partner locations is required.

Job Summary:

Exciting opportunity for an experienced BDM with 1-3 years sales experience, who will be responsible for building relationships with businesses, nonprofits, training providers, and government agencies to establish temporary and ongoing job opportunities for Chrysalis clients. The BDM will work closely with Chrysalis’s Social Enterprise and Development Departments. The position requires client and customer interaction, and the ability to use tact and independent judgment when working with multiple stakeholders.

Roles & responsibilities

Summary of Job Duties, to include, but not limited to:

Develop employment opportunities by initiating and cultivating relationships with local employers, including businesses, nonprofits, and public sector organizations

Promote compelling employment solutions to potential employers, including customized training programs and support services

Thoroughly vet and review training programs within high growth industries that can lead to living wages

Screen eligible clients for job placement opportunities, providing industry specific coaching to prepare clients for interviews or trial shifts

Position Chrysalis’ Staffing social enterprise as a viable option to local employers, coordinating with Staffing team members, as needed

Develop and support opportunities for participants of Chrysalis’ Social Enterprises

Provide feedback and information to clients regarding employment opportunities, guiding clients to industries they would be most successful in

Match job leads with qualified candidates by coordinating with program and social enterprise staff

Obtain in-depth understanding of all aspects of the Chrysalis program

Enter data at all points of client and employer interaction in an accurate and timely manner

Conduct customer service and retention-oriented follow-ups at regular intervals after clients are hired

Cultivate specific job opportunities that match the participants’ skills, work experience, related training, and interests

Monitor job performance as needed and provide constructive feedback to Chrysalis Employment Specialists who mentor placed clients

Represent Chrysalis at meetings, community events and fundraising opportunities

Seek out networking opportunities to further develop potential employers

Monitor and keep current on local labor market information by attending seminars, conducting online research, and participating in local organizations involved in job training and hiring

Adhere to all Chrysalis policies and procedures

Support the Chrysalis Mission and Vision and adhere to the Chrysalis Values

Other duties as assigned

Qualifications

Job Skills & Qualifications

Two years of experience in job development, staffing industry sales, public relations, or other sales industry experience required

Demonstrable skill in developing and giving presentations

Knowledgeable about Southern California job market and employers

Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Must be able to relate to and work well with client services staff, employers, and clients

Experience working with at-risk or low-income populations is a plus

A willingness to provide high-level customer service, at times outside of normal business hours

Ability to effectively represent and market Chrysalis, our clients, and services to employers

Ability to work independently on several projects concurrently in a deadline driven environment

Strong computer skills required, including Excel, Outlook, Salesforce, and Google suite of services

A valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, insured vehicle, and the ability to meet Chrysalis’ driving standards
