Fine Arts Instructor – Full-time faculty position for the 2024-2025 school year

Subject(s) taught: Drawing and Painting with the possibility of teaching AP Art

Roles & responsibilities

Primary duties: The teacher will teach 5 sections with a combination of Drawing and Painting (and a possibility of AP Art). This will involve lesson planning and presentation, project development, student assessment, and individualized student support as needed. The teacher will develop, plan, and present lessons to students in a classroom, utilizing course material and other appropriate learning material. The teacher will supervise, monitor, assign, and evaluate students. In addition, the teacher will establish and maintain standards of student behavior needed to achieve a functional learning atmosphere in the classroom, maintain appropriate and timely records of student progress, communicate with parents, and establish and maintain an effective environment for students, to foster learning. Faculty members are also part of a professional learning community (PLC) for one period.

Additional duties: Teachers are also expected to support the school’s spiritual program by assisting with retreats, school-wide liturgies, and/or community service programs. The teacher is expected to support the school’s co-curricular programs by moderating activities and/or clubs as well as prefect at various dances and athletic events. The teacher will also assist in exam proctoring, classroom substitutions, and lunchtime prefecting.

Qualifications

Minimum Education/Experience: Bachelor’s degree in the Fine/Visual Arts and experience teaching in a high school setting.

Desirable Education/Experience: California Teaching Credential in the Arts, MFA, Masters in Education or related coursework. Knowledge and skill in foundational 2D and 3D Design, Drawing, and Painting.
